Little is known of my “presumed” early Ascendants prior to James Pascoe b: 1786 in Wendron, Cornwall, England.

James Pascoe is confirmed as my Great, Great, Great Grandfather.  He was born in Wendron, Cornwall and later moved to Sinns Croft, where he died of pulmonary consumption 14 January 1857 .  Along the way he married Alice Williams in Gwennap, Cornwall, England in1813.  He and Alice reared 7 children born between 1814 & 1832.  The earlier children were born at St Austell then St Agnes and Redruth respectively.
How he spent his time in the 27 years before his marriage is unknown.  It is known through a Census, 31 Mar 1851 in Redruth Cornwall, his occupation was a Copper Miner.  He resided at Senins (Sinns) Croft, Treleigh, Redruth, Cornwall, and his death certificate also stated that he was a copper miner.

His son Martin Prist Pascoe (my Great, Great Grandfather) was born at St Agnes, Cornwall, England in 1823.  He married Sarah (Sally) Kinsman in 1841 at Redruth, Cornwall, England.  They had 13 children between 1842 & 1984.  The first 4 were born around Redruth, (Sinns Croft, Forge and ?? Redruth).  Followed by 7 being born at St Agnes, the last 2 again were born at Sinns Croft and Redruth.
In the Census 31-Mar-1851 Martin, Married, Head of the household, a 30 year old copper miner.  He, Sarah & children Elizabeth Jane, Joseph James, Martin, Mary Ann & Louisa resided at Wheal Rose, Mount Hawke, St Agnes, he said he was born in St. Agnes.
At the time of his fathers death (1857) Martin resided at Wheal Charles, St Agnes.  It appears that he then returned to Sinns Croft some time before his daughter Sarah’s birth 23 December 1861.  It is possible that he returned to reside with his widowed mother.  She passed 30 January 1866, 8 months before martin left England.
Martin aged 45 & his eldest son Joseph James sailed on the ship "Kent" on 27 Oct 1866 from Plymouth, England, a journey estimated to take 140 days, arriving in Melbourne 13 Jan 1867.  It would appear that they were checking opportunities before sending for the rest of the family who arrived the following year.
Martin and the older boys tried their luck on the Ballarat and Creswick gold fields before turning to farming in the Murchison and Boho areas (I believe he settled in Warrenbayne near Violet Town, Victoria).  Some time after, Martin and Sarah with sons, Martin and William, moved to Chiltern and then to Rutherglen where they remained until their deaths.

My Great Grandfather, Joseph James Pascoe was born 1845 Redruth, Cornwall, England.  He married Mary Hocking 1872, Ballarat, Victoria, Australia.
During the 31 Mar 1851 Census of Wheal Rose, Mount Hawke, Saint Agnes Parish, Joseph was recorded as a 7 year old, Son.  It was recorded he was born in Redruth.
Joseph Pascoe, a Miner, age 21 departed Plymouth, England on 27 October 1866 on the Ship "Kent" bound for Melbourne, Australia, with his father Martin Prist Pascoe, a journey estimated to take 140 days, arriving in Melbourne 13 January 1867.
It appears that Joseph may have spent some time (7 years or so) on the Ballarat and Creswick gold fields after his arrival from Cornwall with his father.  He may have also met his future wife whilst working the fields, or was she on one of the vessels that he with his father, or the one his mother travelled to Australia on.  They were married approx 4.5 years after his arrival in Australia.
He was obviously living in Creswick in 1874 when Joseph Henry his first child was born.  And then in Rochester, Victoria in 1877.  after that who knows, except that Shepparton was the birth place of his 4th child Thomas Francis in 1881.
He was listed as a farmer at Kialla East 1880/81 a location near Shepparton.

Joseph’s sister Mary Ann Pascoe, my Great Grandmother was born 1846, St Agnes, Cornwall, England.  She married Lorence Johnson 1873, Ballarat, Victoria, Australia.
During the 31 Mar 1851 Census of Wheal Rose, Mount Hawke, Saint Agnes Parish, Mary Ann was recorded as a 3 year old daughter.  It was recorded she was born in St. Agnes.
Mary A. Pascoe, age 17 departed Plymouth, England on 29 November 1867 with her mother on the Ship "Southern Ocean" bound for Melbourne, Australia, a journey estimated to take 140 days.  She arrived in Melbourne March 1868.
Mary and Lorence sired 9 children between 1873 – 1891.  Daughter Sarah Jane's b:1873 indicated that Martin Prist and his siblings were still around the gold fields as she was born in Creswick.  Alice b:1875 was born close by at Mt Prospect (12.3 km’s away) dying the same year.  Elizabeth b:1876 in Kingston also reflects a Creswick tie just under 8 Km’s away.  In the year 1878 William Martin was born near Shepparton at Kialla West 12.5 Km’s away, and Richard John b:1880 at Shepparton.  The remaining siblings were born at Violet Town.
Mary Ann’s daughter, Elizabeth Johnson married her first cousin Martin William Pascoe as did Mary Ann (Emma) Johnson by marrying William James Pascoe.  Martin William and William James are also first cousins.

Martin William Pascoe had two sets of parents.  Joseph James Pascoe and Mary Hocking, as well as Mary Ann Pascoe and Lorence Johnson.  Joseph James and Mary Ann Pascoe were brother and sister.  My Grandfather Martin William Pascoe was the son of Joseph James Pascoe and Mary Hocking.  My Grandmother Elizabeth Johnson was the daughter of Mary Ann Pascoe and Lorence Johnson.  This resulted in me having two sets of Grandparents.  I hope this explanation will clarify any confusion”.

My Grandfather Martin William Pascoe married a 1st cousin Elizabeth Johnson 1899. They had 6 children between 1900 and 1920.   As a fettler with the Victorian Railways, Martin & his family lived in various locations in northern Victoria from Rutherglen, Violet Town, Chiltern and back to Violet Town.
Martin died on or very shortly after his date of retirement.

My Father, William Joseph Pascoe married Eunice Lillian Clarke 1939.  My sister and I were born several years later.  October 1948 for myself and nearly 18 months later my sister.  Whilst trying to recall family stories about my fathers life I feel inadequate.  I do know that he was a boot maker by trade, he worked on the railways and also picked or processed tobacco at Gunbower, Victoria.  I was conceived in Gunbower and born in the Echuca Hospital.  From my very early days he worked as a process worker at ICI, making Vinex and later when the company changed hands to Nylex, he continued to make the same product under a different name.  After he retired he loved to read Western’s and was a little reclusive.  My sister Lorraine moved into the family home to help with caring for my mother.  After her passing he had the freedom to travel and stayed with the wife of his deceased army friend in Berrigan, New South Wales.  His own illness forced him to again live with my sister until he passed.

Malcolm John Pascoe was born in the Echuca hospital with parents living in Gunbower, Victoria.
He moved to Melbourne before the age of 18 months. This was necessary because of a congenital bone condition (Osteogenesis Imperfecta) rarely known in rural Victoria.  Once in Melbourne the family moved several times - Coburg, Werribee, again Coburg, Port Melbourne, Flemington, and Footscray.
He married Dorothy Joan Paroisene Abt. 1969 in Port Melbourne, Victoria, whilst living in Footscray and once again moved several times.  He was finally divorced when son Steven was around 3+ and shortly afterward acquired the custody of his 2 children.
Much of the family holidays and long weekends were spent in Violet Town and Strathmerton.  In Violet Town the family spent all of the time at "Uncle Joe" (Joseph Footter) & "Aunty Laura's" (Lavinia Evelyn (Laura) Pascoe) his father’s sister.  His parents and rellies would often stay up playing cards after the children were put to sleep.
As he got older, yabbying in "Wilson’s Dam" was a favourite past-time, and then later, rabbiting in the hills with cousin Kevin Charles Footer (son of Elizabeth Joan Footter & Unknown Byrne out of wedlock).  These years were very fulfilling along with the stays at the Morris's dairy farm at Strathmerton.
He started an apprenticeship when he was 16 as an industrial engraver, later to diversify into chemical engraving.  He also developed skills in woodwork, electronics and became known as a computer guru in the Buchan area where he lived at the time.
He moved to Violet Town in 1993 after he gave up work, and went on a disability allowance. This move came about when Kevin's then wife Patricia Dunn?? passed away.  Kevin wanted to keep the home that he and Pat had bought, so he rented the home from Kevin until a rekindled relationship between Kevin and his first girlfriend, Kevin then moved back in himself.
This was a time of change, where once Kevin and he were once seen as brothers, Kevin's new relationship (later marriage) put stresses between them that were still alive at the time of Kevin's death in 2003.
